The First Lady Mamie Eisenhower

My grandmother wrote on her son’s behalf to President & First Lady Mamie Eisenhower. Asking them if there is anything our government can do to offer my father a safe return back into the United States. He was still trying to find his way home from France, and because my father took up arms for anther country, he had lost his citizenship.

My grandmother’s letter was finally answered by First Lady, Mamie Eisenhower. On April 10, 1959 as well as The Department of State. The First Lady replied,

“Of course, I understand perfectly your desire to have your son return to this country. Whether or not anything can be done I do not know, but I am referring your letter to the proper officials in government. I am sure that someone will be in touch with you further about this matter.”
